How we handle your information

Who we are

The Business Innovation Society of Sea to Sky (BISS) is a volunteer-run community of entrepreneurs in Squamish, British Columbia. We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's PIPEDA.

Member directory

If you ask to be listed, we collect your name, email, and any of the following you choose to give: phone, company, industries, what you can offer, a short blurb, a photo, and website and LinkedIn links. We also record the date you agreed to be listed.

We use these details only to show your listing and to forward messages people send you. An organizer reviews each listing before it appears. Your email and phone number are shown only if you tick the boxes to show them. Either way, people can send you a message through the "Contact me" form, which we forward to your email so you can reply directly.

When someone sends you a message, we keep a record of when it was sent and to whom, to stop abuse. We don't keep the message itself.

Contact form

Messages sent through our contact form are emailed to the BISS organizers. We use them only to reply to you.

Where your information is kept

The website and directory run on Cloudflare. Emails are sent through Brevo and received in Google Workspace. These providers may store data outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union, where it may be subject to local laws.

Cookies and tracking

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam, and we count page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or track you across sites.

Changing or removing your information

You can ask to see, correct or remove your listing at any time by emailing info@biss2s.com, or by replying to any email from the directory. We'll act on removal requests within a few days and delete your details from the directory, not just hide them.
